We are specially trained and certified Reading Instruction Specialists using the Academic Associates® Reading Program
We teach and equip students to decode the one million or so words of English, which provides the proper foundation for fluency and comprehension. They progress step by step through all the levels necessary to read competently with full comprehension. Typically, they gain 2-5 grade levels in as little as 30-60 hours of instruction.
Students are not being “tutored” but are being gently led through a series of easy steps. Using the right foundational approach students will read correctly and efficiently. As they read, they are taught simple effective techniques for understanding what they read. Reading becomes a logical and uncomplicated process. In lesson one, nearly every student, even those with severe learning disabilities, will read at least 300 words. Right from the start students will gain confidence as they receive the tools they need for reading success. They will never again have to guess at words!
Students will learn all the components of reading:
- Decode (read) the word
- Understand what is read
- Evaluate what is read
- Retain and apply relevant information
- Read fluently
While the student fully develops the skill of decoding, he or she will concurrently learn simple, effective techniques for increasing comprehension, fluency, and overall reading proficiency. We encourage parental participation. The outcome of the course will be further optimized and enhanced with your support.
